Everything Veterans Must Know About VAREP

The Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP) is a non-profit organization that promotes the American Dream of home ownership for veterans, by veterans. With over 40 homes donated mortgage-free, 315 homes remodeled and sold to veterans, and $6.6 million spent on home rehabilitation, VAREP is the definition of giving back to our local heroes. Their overall mission is to increase sustainable homeownership, financial-literacy education, VA loan awareness, and economic opportunity for the active-military and veteran communities through their educational seminars and mentorship opportunities.

VAREP chapters can be found throughout the US, in fact, there is one right on our doorstep! The VAREP Central Florida Chapter was created in 2015 and has been dedicated to putting veterans first. They provide support and resources in the following key areas: networking and referral opportunities, business growth, exclusive education and training, housing resources for veterans, VAREP Cares Volunteer events, philanthropy and advocacy, and insider reports and statistics.

One of the most important goals of the Central Florida chapter is to give back to the veteran community. One of the ways they did this was by donating a home to Nikita Wilson, a retired staff sergeant, in 2019. An army of VAREP volunteers spent six months renovating Wilson’s new home before she moved in. Before this, Wilson found herself living in a homeless shelter after being evicted from her apartment in Tampa. Her new home offered her a place to live and a new start. The home is a fully furnished three-bedroom, one-bathroom house in Pine Hills and the best part is that it is mortgage-free
