The Inner Workings of the Camaraderie Foundation

For years the Camaraderie Foundation has been providing counseling services to many Post-9/11 Veterans, Service Members, and their families at no expense. Through their various programs Veterans and their families will be provided with the support they need to not only transition out of the military, but with the opportunity to heal the invisible wounds of war. Our service members often experience post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, divorce, substance abuse, spousal abuse, child abuse, and many other trying issues. This amazing foundation offers help to these families when they believe all hope is lost.

One of the many programs they offer is private counseling services with licensed professionals. All counselors must have two years of experience, current insurance, two years of experience with the military, and if they are working with a child, two years of experience working with children. The first step involved in meeting with a counselor is to request assistance through an online application found on the Camaraderie Foundation website. Within 24 hours of your application, a case manager will follow up to assess your needs and eligibility. Once you have completed the assessment and received an email confirmation, you will be asked to select a Camaraderie Foundation counselor. Following this, you will receive an authorization letter. Then, you can schedule your appointment with your chosen counselor.

Another program the Camaraderie Foundation provides to our veterans is transition assistance. Through their 10-month Mentor Leadership Program, the Camaraderie Foundation provides veterans with the opportunity to build peer support, friendship, and guidance so veterans will be successful in their communities. Partnered with local business members, the Mentor Leadership Program is an excellent way for veterans to prepare for a career in their local community. This program includes leadership classes in both Orlando and Tampa completely free of charge.

The Camaraderie Foundation also offersupportive services for military families so they can lift some of their emotional strain and connect them with their peers. They hold family fun days and other recourses throughout the year to reduce feelings of isolation and separation anxiety. Their 2021 schedule will be released soon.
