You have decided you want to purchase a home what do I do next is the big question.  The very first thing you should do is find a Realtor that you are comfortable with.  Referrals are a good way but not always, sometimes what worked for one person may not for another.  Here are a few ideas that can be very beneficial. Talk with the agents past customers; Check for license and disciplinary actions; Ask about professional awards; Select an agent with the right credentials;

Find out how experienced an agent is; Look at the agent’s current listings; Gauge the agent’s knowledge of the area.  Understanding each other time frame is essential.  If your current lease is not up for say 8 months and you are not willing to break the lease looking at homes immediately is probably not going to work.  You agent can set up a home search so you can track what homes come and go in your selected area is very good plan.  Typically about 3 months before you have to move is the ideal time to look and purchase.  Of course if the right home at the right price comes up before you are ready breaking that lease may be a viable option.  Next week we will cover “Why You Need a Realtor”
